(Diligence / Talent) Conduct Backchannel Checks for Hiring

Use your network to vet a potential hire for your PortCos.

Steps:

  1. Build a list using 'Contacts'.

  2. Search by past companies and timeframes of candidate’s work history.

  3. Identify contacts who can provide insights.

  4. Ask for warm intros to former colleagues.

    • Email Template: "Hey [Name], could you intro me to [Colleague]? Just want to learn more about [Candidate] before we move forward. Thanks!"

  5. Send forwardable email your contact can share with ease.

    • Forwardable Email Template: "Hey [Contact], we’re helping one of our portcos vet a candidate for a role and saw you worked together. Would you be open to a quick chat to share any thoughts? Totally flexible—just let me know!"

    • Forwardable Email Template: "Hey [Contact], a founder at one of our portcos, [Company] would love to chat about [reason or topic]. Thought you might be open to a quick intro. Totally flexible on timing. Let me know if that’s cool with you!"
